Welcome to our Normandie Nest
Pretty as a picture, huh? This is where it all happens, in the middle of the ‘parc naturel marais du cotentin’, a bewitching rural landscape of ancient marshland flanked by meadows and dotted with hamlets. The village is mile down the lane with a brave Norman church, tiny bar and shop and on the way, a handsome chateau emerges from the fields, chickens pecking at the foundations.
The house itself sleeps six comfortably but can accommodate more, including small children. There are three bathrooms, a cavernous living room with wood-burner, art on the walls and books to read, plus a cosy country kitchen, properly equipped.
As well as being a beloved home for family holidays, the house is used for writing retreats, specifically tailored residential trips and is available to rent. The wildlife is spectacular, with storks arriving annually to nest nearby. Both coasts are fifteen minutes away; from the unspoilt and exhilarating Cotentin beaches you can see Jersey, from the eastern Val de Saire you can explore the legacy of the astonishing events of June 6th 1944. Inland, the local towns boast fine markets and excellent shops, historic churches and chateaux. The area is renown for its produce – cheese and fromage frais, cider and Calvados, vegetables cultivated in coastal sand, cured pork, mussels and oysters.
